Car shipping contracts are a binding agreement between you and the car shipping company. Use your contract to answer all your questions. Don’t depend on your car shippers “promise” to do right by you. When a problem arises, your car shipper will always refer to your written contract.
Reviewing Your Car Shipping Contracts
There are a few things that you should look for in your car shipping contracts:
- Verify the cost for shipment as well as the cost for cancellation.
- Verify your cancellation fee and ask for this to be waived in the event your car shipping company doesn’t pick your vehicle up in the allotted time frame as detailed in your contract.
- Verify your pick-up and delivery dates. Most car transporters won’t guarantee dates.
- Verify that your car shipping company offers a guarantee that covers a rental car fee in the event that the delivery date runs over by a certain number of days.
- Verify the maximum dollars per day and the number of days allowed for your rental car coverage.
If your car shipping contracts seem unfair or lack necessary items, negotiate or refuse to sign them! You may be surprised at what offers you can get when you choose to negotiate or refuse to sign a contract.
